There’s a story from Vestmannaeyjar which tells the story of two pirates who chaced a pregnant woman who was just about to give birth. She tried to hide by Sængurkonusteinn but the men found here there just as she was giving birth. One of the pirates wanted to kill the newborn child and the mother but the other one did not want to do that. For years after the Turkish invasion, islanders would sit guard up on the mountain from spring until fall to monitor the incoming ships.
