Eftir Gosið 1973 réðst hann til [[Áhaldahús Vestmannaeyja|Áhaldahússins]], varð þar verkstjóri til dánardægurs.&lt;br&gt;<br /> Þau Sigríður giftu sig 2003, eignuðust þrjú börn. Þau byggðu og bjuggu að [[Foldahraun|Foldahrauni 1]].&lt;br&gt;<br /> Valtýr lést 2018.<br /> <br /> I. Kona Valtýs, (12. desember 2003), er [[Sigríður Guðbrandsdóttir]] frá Unuhól í Þykkvabæ, húsfreyja, f. 11. janúar 1958. Foreldrar hennar voru Guðbrandur Sveinsson, f. 28. maí 1920 í Borgarholti í Miklaholtshreppi, d. 15. júní 2010, og kona hans Sigurfinna Pálmarsdóttir húsfreyja, f. 16. september 1925 í Unuhól.&lt;br&gt;<br /> Börn þeirra:&lt;br&gt;<br /> 1.
